Durian Trader Offers Proton Saga as Lucky Draw Prize for Fortunate Customers

JASIN: A durian trader in Umbai here has come up with an extraordinary idea by offering a brand new Proton Saga car worth nearly RM40,000 as the grand prize in a lucky draw to attract more customers to his stall.

Stall owner, How Yong Ming, 29, said the promotion, which began in early June and runs until 30 August, is the first of its kind introduced since he and several business partners started the durian business at the location three years ago.

According to him, in addition to the Proton Saga, they are also offering two motorcycles, televisions, refrigerators and hampers with a total prize value exceeding RM50,000 as a token of appreciation to customers.

“We intentionally did something different this year. This idea came from me and my business partners to attract more customers to come and buy durians.

“I never expected the response to be so encouraging. There are customers who came here solely to try their luck at winning the car, and ended up buying durians as well,” he told Kosmo! at his stall today.

He said customers who spend a minimum of RM100 are eligible to receive one lucky draw coupon, while a purchase of RM300 entitles them to five coupons, and RM500 allows them to receive 10 coupons.

“The lucky draw event will be held on 30 August with a unique concept, where winners of smaller prizes will draw the names of winners for bigger prizes, all the way up to the grand prize of the Proton Saga,” he said.
