Argentina Crowned Group J Champions After Crushing Jordan 3-1

DALLAS: World champions Argentina closed out their Group J campaign in style after defeating Jordan 3-1 in their final match of the 2026 World Cup at Dallas Stadium, maintaining their unbeaten record to emerge as group winners.

Lionel Scaloni’s side started ferociously, opening the scoring as early as the 19th minute through Giovani Lo Celso, before Lautaro Martinez doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 31st minute.

Jordan kept their hopes alive when Mousa Al Taamari pulled one back in the 55th minute, but Argentina continued to dominate proceedings.

The introduction of captain Lionel Messi as a substitute proved to be a catalyst, as the influential star netted the third goal in the 80th minute, securing a comfortable 3-1 victory.

Messi, who was rested at the start of the match, still stole the spotlight as soon as he was brought on in the second half, with his composure in front of goal gifting Argentina all three points.

Jordan, who had already been eliminated before the match, still displayed high fighting spirit, but were clearly no match for Argentina’s increasingly sharp attacking prowess.

With the win, Argentina collected seven points from three matches to finish as Group J champions, while Jordan returned home empty-handed after a disappointing campaign.
