PETALING JAYA: The implementation of the new BUDI Madani Diesel (BUDI Diesel) mechanism now allows vehicle owners to transfer their subsidy eligibility to family members who use the vehicle.
Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said a total of 10,000 users have taken advantage of the early access phase of BUDI Diesel in Peninsular Malaysia which began yesterday, with no issues reported.
He said the early access period will run for four days before the full implementation of the scheme begins this Wednesday.
“This implementation also involves small traders as well as four-wheel drive vehicles and private pickups owned by companies,” he said during a press conference after launching the ATV Safari tourism product, yesterday.
Amir Hamzah said the improvement was implemented following feedback from the public, particularly users in rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak.
“We take note of the situation in rural Sabah and Sarawak where children sometimes register or purchase diesel on behalf of their parents, even though they are not the actual users of the vehicle.
“As such, this new system allows vehicle owners to transfer the subsidised diesel quota to family members who use the vehicle,” he said.
He said vehicle owners can update relevant information via the official BUDI Madani Diesel portal.
The scheme allows users to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.15 per litre for a flexible quota of up to 200 litres, before the rate is adjusted to RM2.10 per litre starting this Wednesday.
