TANGKAK: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim explained that the Federal Government has channelled higher allocations to Johor compared to the revenue contributed by the state to the federal government over the past three years.

The Prime Minister said that based on records from the Ministry of Finance, Johor contributed approximately RM14 billion in revenue to the Federal Government for the period of 2023 to 2025.

However, he said, the Federal Government channelled back RM16 billion to Johor through various development projects, management allocations and related programmes.

“Based on the Ministry of Finance’s records, federal revenue collected from Johor for 2023 to 2025 amounted to RM14 billion.

“How much did we give back through various projects, management and overall development? A total of RM16 billion for the state of Johor,” he said in a speech at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Candidate Announcement Ceremony for the Johor State Election (PRN), here, last night.

Anwar, who is also the Minister of Finance, said these facts need to be clarified to provide a true picture of the Federal Government’s commitment to Johor’s development.

He also made a comparison between the operating expenditure allocations received by Johor under the previous government and the current MADANI Government.

The Prime Minister said the operating expenditure allocation received by Johor during the previous administration was at a rate of approximately RM6 billion to RM7 billion per year.

That amount, he said, increased to RM8.7 billion under the MADANI Government.

Anwar said the increase in allocations clearly proves the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that the development and well-being of Johor’s people continue to be given priority.

Through the data presented by Anwar, for 2026, Johor is listed as the third largest recipient of Operating Expenditure (OE) and Development Expenditure (DE) allocations in the country after Sabah and Sarawak.

Johor’s OE allocation increased from RM7 billion in 2022 to RM8.7 billion in 2026, while DE increased from RM2.3 billion to RM4.8 billion over the same period.

In addition, Johor is also recorded as the second largest state receiving assistance under the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) after Selangor.
