Anwar Successfully Undergoes Surgical Procedure to Treat Abdominal Hernia

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today successfully underwent an elective laparoscopic surgical procedure to treat an abdominal or para-umbilical hernia.

The Chief of the Medical Team to the Prime Minister, Datuk Dr Asri Ranga Abdullah Ramaiah said the procedure went smoothly under the care of a team of medical specialists.

“He is now undergoing physiotherapy treatment and is under the observation of a team of medical specialists to ensure the recovery process goes well,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, the Senior Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, informed that Anwar is expected to remain under the observation of the medical team for two days.

“Let us pray that all matters regarding the examination and procedure of the Prime Minister are made easy and that he is blessed with lasting health so that he may return to carrying out his duties as usual in the near future, God willing,” he said.
