KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15: A 41-year-old man was detained on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to provoke the police escort of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst. Comm. Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed that the incident was not a traffic accident and no injuries were reported.
“The reports confirm that the incident was not a traffic accident but involved the arrest of a driver under Section 45A of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of alcohol,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
A breath test revealed that the suspect had a blood alcohol level of 107 mg per 100 ml, exceeding the legal limit.
The case has been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further instructions, with charges expected to be filed on Thursday (Jan 15).
