KUANTAN: Flood victims in Kuantan received a morale-boosting gesture of royal care on Friday when the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, contributed freshly prepared meals cooked by chefs from Istana Abdulaziz.
A total of 340 food packets, comprising fried rice, fried kuey teow, and fried vermicelli, each served with a sunny-side-up egg and accompanied by drinks, were distributed to evacuees at the temporary relief center at Sekolah Kebangsaan Melati.
This marked the third consecutive day that the palace kitchen has been active since early morning, with chefs beginning preparations as early as 5:30 am to ensure timely delivery of meals to flood victims affected by ongoing flooding in the district.
According to a statement shared by the Pahang Sultanate on social media, the royal couple’s concern for the welfare of the people is deeply ingrained, reflecting a long-standing tradition of compassion, humility, and close connection with the rakyat.
The post added that Tunku Azizah had instructed palace chefs to continue cooking daily and distributing food to flood victims at relief centers, particularly those located in and around Kuantan.
Friday’s food distribution was led by the Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang, Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya. Due to flood-affected road conditions, the delivery was carried out by the Pahang Sultanate Disaster Relief Team using a three-tonne HICOM Handalan II GS cargo truck from the 4th Mechanised Brigade.
In addition to overseeing the distribution, Mohamed Zahari also inspected the cleanliness, facilities, and overall safety conditions of the relief center, following direct instructions from the Pahang ruler.
At present, the Sultan of Pahang, the Tengku Ampuan, and members of the royal family are in Bangkok, Thailand, where they are supporting their son, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah, who is representing Malaysia in polo at the Thailand SEA Games 2025.
