Malaysia Sends Minister Mohamad Sabu to Represent Nation at Iran Supreme Leader’s State Funeral
Agriculture Minister to convey Malaysia’s condolences as Kuala Lumpur reaffirms solidarity with the Government and people of Iran
KUALA LUMPUR: The Government of Malaysia has appointed Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu as the country’s official representative at the state funeral of the late Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Eminence Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, which will be held in Tehran on July 3, 2026.
During the visit, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu is also scheduled to hold meetings with the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran to formally convey Malaysia’s deepest condolences and sympathies to the Iranian government and its people following the passing of the country’s highest leader.
The Malaysian government expressed profound sorrow over the loss of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, describing the occasion as a moment of great mourning for Iran. Malaysia reaffirmed its solidarity with the leadership and people of Iran during this difficult period.
The appointment of Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu reflects Malaysia’s commitment to maintaining its longstanding diplomatic ties with Iran and underscores the nation’s respect for the late Supreme Leader. The visit also symbolises Malaysia’s support for the Iranian people as they mourn the passing of one of the country’s most influential leaders.
