2026 World Cup: England Unbeatable Despite Playing With 10 Men

MEXICO CITY: England manager Thomas Tuchel praised the extraordinary fighting spirit displayed by his players after eliminating hosts Mexico 3-2 in a dramatic match to advance to the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals.

In the match, the Three Lions had to play with 10 men after Jarell Quansah was shown a red card, but still managed to defend their lead from two goals by Jude Bellingham and one from Harry Kane.

Tuchel admitted that the match tested the mental strength and resilience of his team, especially when several incidents favoured the hosts.

“I am very proud of the team because they gave everything to win. This was a difficult match. Every time we felt we had gained momentum, they gave us a challenge.

“But that is the true mentality of this team. When things get difficult, they never give up and never lose belief. They always give more than what is required,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bellingham, who is also a Real Madrid star, believes the victory proves that England have a much stronger character than before.

“It is difficult for me to describe it all. Playing with 10 men, the way we defended our area and at the same time were so clinical in front of the opponent’s goal was truly extraordinary.

“In the past, perhaps England would have crumbled in situations like this, but this time we remained united until the final whistle. Credit must be given to all the players, whether they started or came on as substitutes; they gave everything,” he said.

The result sees England face Norway in the quarter-finals at the Miami Stadium this Sunday.
