Melaka will construct an international standard remote-control car circuit
ALOR GAJAH: Melaka plans to establish the state’s first international remote control car track on a one-hectare location near Tanjung Bidara beach in November.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh stated that the Melaka state government successfully gained permission from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) for an allocation of RM300,000 to build the circuit after the proposal was completed last year.
“The Melaka Youth and Sports Department (JBS) has conducted a study and identified a suitable location to implement the project, and we are currently looking for sponsors to participate in the facility upgrade project there.
The circuit is expected to be fully completed within 18 months.”
At the KBS Masjid Tanah Complex, he told reporters, “We believe that this circuit can be used by all remote control car enthusiasts, whether from Melaka or abroad, and this circuit can also become a training centre for fans of this sport.”
JBS director Khairul Adri Rosli was present at the Melaka Chief Minister’s Cup Remote Control Car Championship, which he had presided over earlier.
Speaking further, Ab Rauf stated that the state government was intending to build a recreational vehicle (RV) centre close to Tanjung Bidara beach, and that the remote control car circuit might increase the number of tourists visiting the area.
Aside from that, he said, the Melaka government is working to improve the resort’s beachside amenities, particularly the vendors there, to make it more appealing to visitors.
According to him, “the numerous amenities there can definitely draw more tourists to Tanjung Bidara beach in the future and indirectly boost the local economy.”
