KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8:Malaysia has called for the immediate and unconditional release of all humanitarian volunteers detained by the Israeli Zionist regime while en route to deliver aid to Gaza as part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) and Thousand Madleens To Gaza (TMTG) missions.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) condemned the Israeli interception and attack on the humanitarian vessels on Oct 8, describing it as an “outrageous act of aggression” that violated multiple principles of international law.

“Malaysia strongly condemns the interception and attack by the Israeli Zionist regime against the humanitarian volunteers and vessels participating in the FFC and TMTG missions. This blatant act of aggression in international waters constitutes a serious breach of international maritime law, international humanitarian law, and international human rights law,” the statement read.

The ministry further demanded that Israel respect the rights of the detained volunteers and ensure their safety and dignity at all times.

Wisma Putra confirmed that Malaysia’s diplomatic missions in the region have been placed on high alert and are actively coordinating with relevant authorities and governments to secure the safe release of the detained participants.

“Our missions are now fully engaged in efforts to ensure the welfare and immediate release of all detained humanitarian volunteers,” it added.

Reaffirming Malaysia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, the statement said Malaysia “stands firmly in solidarity with the people of Palestine” and remains committed to supporting all international efforts to end the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
