KUALA LUMPUR: In the past thirty years, Indian music icon A.R. Rahman has won two Oscars, two Grammys, a Golden Globe, and six National Awards, yet he claims that his musical career “has just started.”
For this reason, the “Mozart of Madras” declined an offer from a Hollywood production firm to star in a biopic based on Krishna Trilok’s account of his life.
Rahman, 58, made his feature film debut as a composer in 1992’s Roja, directed by Mani Ratnam. The film earned Rahman his first National Award for outstanding music direction.
After his debut concert in Malaysia four years later, he developed a lifelong bond and sense of belonging to the nation.

“My most insane audience is Malaysians. I find that when I think about them, my spirits rise.
“I think this audience is made up of really mature, passionate, and evolved individuals.
In a video interview with Malay Mail on Sunday, Rahman stated, “Whatever I sing, they will take the good from it.”
On July 27, Rahman will make a comeback to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium for his eighth performance in Malaysia. Star Planet is in charge of organising AR Rahman Live in Kuala Lumpur in 2024.”What I want people to hear is reflected in my concert. To me, it goes beyond just a job.
He described his live performances as a means of establishing “a soul connection” with his audience, saying that they are driven by passion, love, and an offering.

According to the music composer, he is still choosing the songs for the performance and the performers who will accompany him. He did, however, imply that a variety of his non-Tamil works, including Hindi songs, will be performed at the July concert.
“Being from Chennai, I serve the global music industry, so I think people should be aware of my work in Hindi and English as well as other languages.
The majority of Tamil Nadu residents take great pride in the fact that someone from their region has accomplished amazing things. Therefore, I accept it,” he said.
Regarding of Malaysian singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, who performed a Tamil song during his concert the previous year, will return this time, Rahman remained evasive.
He did, however, state that he hoped to get to know more Malaysian artists and work with them on projects in the future.
In art, limits don’t exist. He remarked, “I would love to use the talents (that I meet).”
Rahman stated that whenever he travels for a concert, he typically dons a face mask, explores the nearby marketplaces, and indulges in the street cuisine.
Another place I adore is Malacca. Actually, last New Year’s Eve, I was at a beach there, meditating and taking in the sunrise,” he continued.
