Zizan Razak responds to death threats and cyberbullying: “I just want to make people laugh”

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and comedian Zizan Razak has shared that he once received death threats from someone who was envious of him because his girlfriend showed interest in the star.

In a report by Utusan Malaysia, Zizan revealed that he chose to ignore the threats, which were made on social media. “I didn’t file a police report because I believe the person was just trying to intimidate me. Sometimes I wonder why some people are so angry they wish harm upon me when all I aim to do is make people laugh,” he said.

The 40-year-old actor also mentioned that he frequently faces cyberbullying, particularly when he serves as a judge on entertainment shows. Despite this, Zizan opts to disregard the online abuse and maintain his mental well-being.

“Fans often feel upset when their favorite contestants are eliminated, leading to harsh criticism of the judges. I don’t take social media criticism to heart. I read comments only to improve myself,” he explained.

Zizan advised others who face cyberbullying to consider avoiding social media or disabling comment sections to protect their mental health. “If the insults and criticism become overwhelming, it might be best to stay away from social media,” he suggested.
