SELAYANG: Yayasan PEKEMA continues its commitment to supporting underprivileged communities through the Back to School 2026 programme, an initiative aimed at easing the financial burden on families ahead of the new school term.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative benefits students from low-income households through the provision of school bags and basic school supplies, helping to boost students’ confidence and motivation as they begin the new academic year on a positive note.
For the implementation of the programme in Zone 10 of the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS), a total of 500 primary and secondary school students from the Selayang area were selected as beneficiaries.
The Back to School 2026 programme was held at Dewan Sri Siantan, Jalan Sungai Tua.
The programme was organised by Yayasan PEKEMA in collaboration with the Zone 10 Community Service Centre of the Selayang Municipal Council and the PEKEMA Sports and Recreation Club (KRESMA), reflecting PEKEMA’s continued concern for community welfare and education.
The official handover ceremony was graced by the presence of Selangor State Executive Councillor for Women and Community Development and Taman Templer state assembly person, YB Puan Anfaal Saari, together with PEKEMA’s leadership, representatives from government agencies, strategic partners and programme beneficiaries.
President PEKEMA, Datuk Mohamed Nazari Noordin said the programme is not merely an annual event, but a reflection of PEKEMA’s and Yayasan PEKEMA’s long-term commitment to initiatives that deliver direct impact to the community.
For 2026, he said PEKEMA aims to benefit a total of 10,000 students across Peninsular Malaysia through the distribution of school bags and essential school supplies, which will be carried out in phases throughout the year.
“As the new school session approaches, many parents and guardians are still facing financial challenges. We hope this contribution will help ease their burden, while also reinforcing the importance of education as the most valuable asset in building the nation’s future,” he said.

He added that as an organisation representing Bumiputera players in the automotive industry, PEKEMA is not only focused on economic development and entrepreneurship, but also places strong emphasis on community welfare, education and overall well-being.
Meanwhile, Zone 10 Selayang Municipal Council councillor Tuan Haji Ahmad Zahiri Zahid Sofian said the collaboration between Yayasan PEKEMA, the Zone 10 Community Service Centre and KRESMA demonstrates a multi-stakeholder commitment to prioritising the welfare of the local community.
“As a Zone 10 councillor, I am committed to ensuring programmes like this continue to benefit the local community. The collaboration with Yayasan PEKEMA and KRESMA enables welfare assistance and educational support to reach those in need, particularly students. I believe this effort will help nurture a competitive young generation that is well-prepared to face future challenges,” he said.
The Back to School 2026 programme also received strong support from PEKEMA members, volunteers and strategic partners, underscoring the spirit of collaboration in ensuring community welfare remains a top priority.
