KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30: The spirit of unity and love for the nation must remain strong among all Malaysians to ensure continued peace and prosperity, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

In a Facebook post, Fahmi said the message echoed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s National Day 2025 Address, which underscored the need to curb any attempt to sow racial, regional, or religious division.

“As the Prime Minister stressed, the independence we enjoy today is the result of the struggles and sacrifices of many,” he said.

Fahmi, who is also spokesperson for the Madani Government, urged Malaysians to participate in the National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya on Sunday in conjunction with the nation’s 68th Independence Day.

In his address earlier, Anwar emphasized that unity has been the foundation of Malaysia’s strength since the struggle for independence, warning that divisive acts could threaten the nation’s future. He said preserving harmony and solidarity is vital for lasting stability and prosperity.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, who attended the address at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), said the turnout of thousands of citizens alongside national leaders reflected strong patriotism across society.

He added that the Prime Minister’s message highlighted the importance of defending the country against divisive elements, strengthening solidarity, and upholding the spirit of Malaysia MADANI” which champions tolerance, mutual respect, and the welfare of the people.

Shamsul Azri also extended National Day greetings to Malaysians, calling on all citizens to celebrate with enthusiasm, patriotism, and gratitude.
