SERDANG, Aug 30: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that more foreign leaders are expected to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur this October, following the success of the 46th Summit in May.

Speaking during his National Day 2025 address at the Malaysia Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS) on Saturday, the Prime Minister praised the efficiency of Malaysia’s civil service in ensuring the smooth execution of high-profile international events.

“US President Donald Trump has confirmed his attendance, and I also believe Chinese and possibly Russian leaders will be present. I am confident because I have witnessed the exceptional efficiency of our government machinery, from the Home Ministry and Royal Malaysia Police to the Prime Minister’s Department, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and all relevant agencies,” Anwar said.

The prime minister described the previous ASEAN meeting as “one of the largest, most spectacular, and meticulously organized meetings ever held,” crediting the collaborative efforts of multiple government agencies for its success.

Anwar expressed confidence that, as ASEAN Chair for 2025, Malaysia would be able to host the 47th Summit even more efficiently and leave a strong impact on the regional stage.

Also present at the National Day event were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
