Nepal Floods: King Urges Appropriate Action to Help Affected Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has urged Wisma Putra to take all appropriate actions regarding Malaysians affected by the severe floods in Rasuwa, Nepal.

In a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page today, His Majesty decreed that the latest information on the safety and whereabouts of those affected should be channeled to their respective family members.

“I have been following the developments of this tragedy since it was reported yesterday, as it involves Malaysians.

“I also urge Wisma Putra to take all appropriate actions, including in disseminating the latest information to their family members regarding the safety and whereabouts of the Malaysians involved,” said His Majesty.

Sultan Ibrahim also prayed that all rescue and evacuation efforts for the affected Malaysians would be carried out smoothly.

According to the post, Sultan Ibrahim and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Raja Zarith Sofiah, also expressed their concern and prayed for the safety of the Malaysians involved in the disaster.

“Both Their Majesties offered prayers, hoping that all victims are safe and that all their affairs are made easy throughout this situation,” the post stated.

Wisma Putra, in a statement today, informed that 55 Malaysians are still uncontactable following the massive floods that struck the Rasuwa district yesterday.

According to Wisma Putra, the figure was obtained based on the latest information from family members, travel agencies, and other relevant sources.

International media reported that the death toll from the floods that hit villages and trekking routes in the Nepal-China border area has risen to 162, while hundreds more remain missing.
