KUALA LUMPUR: The United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) has welcomed the Federal Court’s decision to allow the review application related to the addendum decree concerning former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, describing it as a fair outcome from the highest court.

In a media statement following its Supreme Council meeting, UMNO said the ruling gives new hope to efforts seeking justice for Najib.

The council also expressed gratitude to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for granting a royal pardon to the late Zara Qairina Mohd Razali, whose family had been burdened by bank loan repayments for her education in Australia.

UMNO further urged the National Registration Department to facilitate all necessary processes to resolve matters involving the late Zara Qairina.

On another matter, UMNO reiterated its firm stance on the improper display of the Jalur Gemilang, stressing that the national flag is a symbol of pride and sovereignty. The party said strict legal action must be taken without compromise against anyone involved in such acts, regardless of intent.

Additionally, UMNO issued a protest note to the leadership of the Unity Government against any attempts to expel UMNO members from statutory bodies, warning that such actions could strain relations within the coalition.

The statement was signed by UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
