UMNO Reclaims Land in Kuala Lumpur Following Court Ruling

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24, 2025 — The Kuala Lumpur High Court today ordered a plot of strategic land measuring 9,723 square meters in the capital to be officially transferred to UMNO, following a mutual agreement between the party and the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office (PTGWP).

The decision was delivered by Judge Roz Mawar Rozain after UMNO’s lawyer, Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun, informed the court that both parties had agreed to settle the matter through a consent judgment.

“Therefore, the court records the consent judgment between the parties, and the land transfer must be completed within 30 days,” said the judge during the proceedings, which were also attended by UMNO’s lawyer, Norhazira Abu Haiyan.

Previously Held by Four National Figures

The land, located at Lot 40, Section 51, Kuala Lumpur City, was previously registered under the names of four national figures acting as trustees: the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, Tun Musa Hitam, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, and the late Tan Sri Sanusi Junid.

Now, based on the court’s order and in accordance with Section 9(b) of the Societies Act 1966, all rights, interests, and ownership of the land will be officially transferred to UMNO as the sole legal owner.

Process Delayed Since 2015

UMNO’s Secretary of Works, Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan, stated in his affidavit that efforts to transfer ownership of the land began in 2015, supported by an official application and a statutory declaration signed by all four trustees.

However, in 2017, the attempt to process the transfer using Form 14A was rejected by the land office due to a technical error—discrepancies between the names on the land title and identification documents.

After two of the trustees, Sanusi and Daim, passed away in 2018 and 2024 respectively, efforts to finalize the ownership transfer were resumed.

An internal consent letter dated December 10, 2015, was also submitted as evidence that UMNO’s leadership had long agreed for the land to be re-registered under the party’s name.

With this ruling, UMNO officially regains ownership of a valuable plot of land in the heart of the capital—bringing an end to nearly a decade of legal and administrative delays. The court has instructed that all related documents be completed within 30 days.
