After being discontinued seven years ago, the National Service Training Program (PLKN) 3.0 recommenced on Sunday, January 12, and will be implemented this year through voluntary participation in three series at two camps.
According to the Defense Ministry, the 515th Territorial Army Regiment Camp is hosting the PLKN 3.0 Series 1/2025 for 45 days, ending on February 25.
The PLKN 3.0 Series 2/2025 will take place between May 11 and June 2, while the PLKN 3.0 Series 3/2025 will take place between September 7 and October 21. According to the release, the training would take place in the 505th and 515th Territorial Army Regiment Camps in Pekan, Pahang.
Additionally, it stated that 120 voluntary trainees, 80 men and 40 women, ages 18–25, from a variety of backgrounds, races, religions, educational backgrounds, and places, participated in the PLKN 3.0 Series 1/2025.
The government claims that the PLKN 3.0 will employ a training model that incorporates 30% of statehood components and 70% of basic military training.
In the Basic Military Training module, students will gain knowledge of national security policies, basic military capabilities, Malaysian Madani well-being, and leadership abilities.
“The Statehood Component module will expose trainees to training on elements of identity, patriotism, and strengthening unity,” it said.
It further claimed that PLKN 3.0 served as a platform for the development of a new generation that is characterized by a feeling of patriotism, upholds moral principles, consistently fosters unity, and instills a spirit of voluntarism.
According to the statement, PLKN 3.0 is being implemented with five goals in mind: fostering and uniting young people of all races, promoting national integrity, forming strong character traits, and practicing positive values.
Instilling and fostering a spirit of voluntarism and creating a new generation that is healthy, smart, and self-assured are other goals, it stated.
