The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) says that heavy rain will fall in several states across the country for three days straight, starting this Wednesday (Jan. 15).

The department said in a statement on Sunday (Jan. 12) that the heavy rain was caused by a spring surge that would hit the country from Jan. 15 to 18.

It said that the heavy rain would affect several states in Peninsular Malaysia, parts of Sarawak in the south and west, as well as Sabah during this time.

“A review of the most up-to-date weather forecast models shows that a monsoon surge is likely to happen from January 15th to January 18th, 2025. This could cause heavy, continuous rain in many parts of the country.”

It said, “For the most up-to-date and correct information, the public should check out MetMalaysia’s website at www.met.gov.my, as well as the organization’s official social media pages and the myCuaca app.”
