Police Arrest Woman, Seize Drugs Worth Over RM18,000

KUALA LUMPUR: A 22-year-old local woman was arrested after police seized various types of drugs estimated to be worth more than RM18,000 in two separate raids around Sibu yesterday.

Sibu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said the suspect was detained at approximately 3 p.m. at Jalan Pahlawan by a team of officers and personnel from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (BSJN) of the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD).

He said that an inspection of the suspect found 11 grammes of crystal chunks believed to be ketamine, 190.15 grammes of juice powder believed to contain a mixture of ecstasy-type drugs, and 500 millilitres of liquid believed to contain a mixture of ecstasy.

“Seizures from the first raid are estimated to be worth RM2,912,” he said in a statement today.

Following the arrest, police then raided a house at Jalan Belatok at approximately 3.45 p.m. on the same day.

In the second raid, police seized 514.6 grammes of juice powder believed to be a mixture of ecstasy-type drugs, 191 grammes of ketamine, and 1,000 millilitres of liquid believed to contain ecstasy-type drugs, with seizure value amounting to RM15,536.25.

Abang Zainal said that the initial urine screening test found that the suspect tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, and benzo.

According to him, the suspect, who has a previous record, has been remanded for seven days to assist with investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for suspected drug trafficking and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act for drug abuse.
