KUALA LUMPUR: Educators across Malaysia were celebrated for their dedication and lasting contributions to society during the National-Level Teachers’ Day Awards Ceremony held today, where teachers were recognised not only as academic mentors but also as architects of the nation’s future.

The prestigious ceremony honoured outstanding teachers in 31 categories, covering areas such as STEM education, digital innovation, special education, sports, leadership, and volunteerism. The recognition reflected the government’s continued appreciation for educators who have played a major role in strengthening the country’s education system.

Speakers at the event stressed that the value of a teacher extends far beyond examination results. A truly exceptional educator, they said, is one who nurtures students into ethical, compassionate, resilient and socially responsible individuals capable of contributing positively to the nation.

Among the award recipients was Dr Valerie, whose efforts in promoting inclusive and human-centred education drew special attention. She has been widely recognised for championing emotional well-being among students, supporting rural communities, and introducing innovative teaching approaches rooted in compassion and emotional development.

Organisers described her contributions as a reflection of Malaysia’s aspiration to create a more inclusive, caring and equitable education environment for every child.

While only selected educators received awards during the ceremony, tribute was also paid to the hundreds of thousands of teachers nationwide who continue to dedicate themselves tirelessly to educating and inspiring future generations.

The event concluded with a message highlighting teachers as the nation’s frontline heroes in education, whose sacrifices and commitment continue to leave a meaningful and lasting impact on society and the country’s future.
