Sultan and Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Extend Condolences to Family of the Late Fadhlan Fakhry Solana

KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, have extended their condolences to the family of the late Fadhlan Fakhry Solana Mohd Fellimal.

In a post on the Pahang Royalty Facebook page today, Their Royal Highnesses expressed their hope that the family of the late Fadhlan Fakhry Solana would be given strength and fortitude in facing the loss of their loved one.

“Their Royal Highnesses also prayed for the students who are still receiving treatment to be granted recovery and for all their affairs to be made easy,” read the post.

Through the same post, Their Royal Highnesses also advised the people to always remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to avoid health risks due to the hot weather and haze currently affecting the region.

Their Royal Highnesses reminded the public to drink sufficient water, reduce heavy physical activities in open areas, especially during the hottest times of the day, wear light and loose clothing, and rest in shaded or cool areas.

“The public is also advised to be aware of early signs of heat‑related problems such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, extreme fatigue and confusion, and to seek immediate treatment if the condition becomes serious,” read the post.

This advice was issued following the incident in which a Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) student, Fadhlan Fakhry Solana, 21, died yesterday after experiencing breathing difficulties during a duathlon event in the Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) programme last Friday.

Eight other participants — two receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HoSHAS) in Temerloh, and six others being treated at Jengka Hospital — are reported to be in stable condition.

The media had earlier reported that investigations found that nine students involved, comprising five males and four females, complained of breathing difficulties while taking part in the programme at the UiTM Jengka campus in Maran.
