SEREMBAN: Police have detained a second suspect in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body buried behind an unoccupied house in Rembau. The arrest was made on Friday afternoon near Genting Sempah, Pahang, authorities said.
Negeri Sembilan Deputy Police Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Idzam Jaafar confirmed that the man, believed to be in his early 50s, is being held to assist in the ongoing murder investigation. “With this arrest, a total of two men have now been detained to aid police inquiries,” he said.
Earlier, a man had been arrested in Melaka in connection with the case and remanded for one week under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The body was discovered inside a bag buried behind a house along Jalan Pedas-Linggi. State Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Suri Narudin, who was reported missing in Ampang, Selangor, on Monday, Dec 15. She had reportedly been unreachable since Dec 8.
The case was initially reported to the Pedas police station, prompting a search at the house where the grim discovery was made. Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about the motives or identities of the suspects.
The police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward to aid the investigation.
