JAKARTA, Aug 25 – Violent clashes broke out near the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta today as protesters rallied against what they claim are excessive salaries and allowances granted to Members of Parliament.

The demonstration, which drew hundreds of participants, escalated when police officers came under attack with Molotov cocktails thrown by unidentified individuals within the crowd. Authorities responded with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the rioters.
Protesters also called for the immediate dissolution of Parliament, accusing lawmakers of prioritizing personal benefits over national interests amid ongoing economic challenges in the country.
No official statement has yet been released regarding casualties or arrests, but security has been tightened around the parliamentary complex to prevent further unrest.
