PTPTN starts a loan restructuring campaign with an RM300 minimum payment
KUALA LUMPUR: In an effort to get debtors to pay up their arrears, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has started its first-ever loan restructuring campaign, with a minimum payment of RM300.
The two-month campaign, which runs from June 1 to July 31, is open to all borrowers with arrears, regardless of whether they hold conventional or Ujrah loans, according to a statement released by PTPTN on Saturday, June 22.
“Borrowers need to make a minimum of RM300 in overdue payments for the loan restructuring and are required to set up salary deductions or direct debits as a repayment method to ensure consistent and organised repayments,” stated the statement.
“During this campaign, borrowers can also negotiate other repayment options, such as switching to Ujrah, loan consolidation, and rescheduling.”
As for the debt restructuring effort, PTPTN chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said it will help lower and eventually reach zero arrears, enhancing the borrowers’ credit ratings.
She highlighted that in order to maintain the education loan fund for future generations and guarantee that no student is turned away from higher education because of financial difficulties, borrowers’ commitment to repayment is essential.
