SHAH ALAM: An elderly man in his 70s has been detained to assist in investigations regarding an incident where several political party flags were believed to have been pulled down in the Dusun Setia area here, early yesterday morning.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, said the police received a report regarding the incident at about 2.54 a.m. yesterday.

He said investigations are still ongoing, including recording witness statements and obtaining analysis of the video recording.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.

He also advised all parties not to speculate, spread unverified information, or upload content that could cause confusion and affect the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, Alzafny said two police reports were received yesterday, and two investigation papers have been opened regarding electoral offences under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief causing loss or damage to property.

“Cumulatively, throughout the period from nomination day last Saturday until yesterday, the police have received 14 police reports and opened nine investigation papers related to electoral offences,” he said.
