Don’t Make UMNO, BN The ‘Scapegoat’ When Failing To Fulfil Promises – Khairy

SEREMBAN: UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) should not be made the ‘scapegoat’ for various issues that arise, including the failure of certain parties to fulfil their promises.

Former UMNO Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, questioned the actions of certain parties who blame UMNO and BN for the failure to deliver what was promised to the people.

“I see that every time they go on stage, they blame BN, they blame UMNO. Promises not fulfilled also get blamed on UMNO, that is not a stance we can accept.

“When they cannot deliver and when people get angry because they promised all sorts of things before, and today they win, tomorrow things will be all sorts of things.

“He said they could not fulfil the promise because UMNO and BN are in the government. Is that a way to appreciate friends?

“Never mind, if they want to blame UMNO and BN, we will prove them wrong in Negeri Sembilan,” he said in a speech at the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) campaign programme in Lenggeng today.

Khairy said BN has chosen to be professional by continuing its support for the Unity Government until the end of the term to ensure national stability is preserved.

He said this approach is important because the country is still facing various economic challenges and international geopolitical uncertainties.

He said although BN has taken a different approach in several states, including forming an understanding with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Negeri Sembilan PRN, it should not be interpreted as an attempt to undermine the government in Putrajaya.

“Today’s political flexibility requires us to take a slightly different approach at the state level.

“I respect the maturity of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who can accept at the federal level to continue cooperation for the sake of national stability.

“We have only one year left in this term, it’s not long now. So we don’t need to withdraw support or force an early general election (GE), we must be mature in this matter.

“However, the people can see in Negeri Sembilan we are giving an early signal and preview of the changes that could take place in the coming GE,” he said.
