PUTRAJAYA, Dec 5 : Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hosted presenters from the “Islam and the Emerging World Order” conference, organized by the International Institute of Futures Studies at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), at Seri Perdana this evening.
Anwar expressed his appreciation for the insights and recommendations shared during the meeting, noting that discussions covered a wide spectrum of global issues, including challenges in public service, rising xenophobia, and the uncertain future of the world amid current geopolitical and socio-economic pressures.
He said the exchange of ideas was meaningful, especially as it brought together diverse perspectives on the evolving global order and the role of Islamic scholarship in addressing contemporary problems.
Two scholars from Sarajevo drew particular attention when they discussed the classical work Mu’id al-Ni’am wa Mubid al-Niqam (The Restorer of Favors and the Restrainer of Chastisements) by renowned scholar Tajuddin al-Subki. Anwar emphasized the importance of such discussions in shaping the government’s ongoing policy evaluation. He said critical intellectual engagement can help generate actionable ideas and proposals that benefit not only Muslims but the global community.
He expressed hope that forums of this nature will continue to expand, contributing to a more thoughtful, just, and forward-looking policymaking process.
The Prime Minister reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to fostering knowledge-based dialogue and collaboration as part of its broader efforts to navigate the complexities of the emerging world order.
