According to Fahmi, the growth of Perlis Advanced Technology City provides over 2,000 job prospects. About 2,000 direct work possibilities in relevant industries will be created by Chuping’s Perlis Advanced Technology City development, which is expected to start next year. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil expects the project, which will cost a total of US$11 billion (RM49.17 billion), to start operating in phases by the middle of 2027.

“This investment in Chuping is highly strategic, as it involves building infrastructure capable of accommodating up to 1.25 Gigawatts (GW) of AI (artificial intelligence) data centers, a significant breakthrough. “”I am here to witness and support the efforts that will put Perlis on the world map,” he told reporters for today’s event.
He met Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, the Crown Prince of Perlis, after he accompanied him to the signing ceremony of the Main Agreement for the Advanced Technology City Development in Perlis, a joint venture between Sirage Capital Sdn Bhd and Skyvast Sdn Bhd. Through a network of collaboration with public higher education institutions like University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) or any other TVET-related institutions, Fahmi stated that the initiative will also strengthen the nation’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
“Our young people will acquire skills to assist in the operation of this technology city, in addition to being proficient and utilizing AI technology.
“”They will utilize energy sources such as solar, storage batteries, or gas turbines to enable this 1.25 GW data center to operate efficiently. “Because Chuping receives one of the highest amounts of sunlight (in Malaysia) and has a topography that is suitable for the development of the Perlis Advanced Technology City, he explained why this strategic investment is there.
Fahmi predicts that many businesses will be interested in the off-grid concept if they want to ensure that their investments receive a green grade.
According to him, the Ministry of Communications is certain that the development will support the nation’s transition to a digital economy, particularly in Peru.
