PDRM Uses AI, Smart Data To Counter Evolution Of Crime
SHAH ALAM: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is developing smart policing through the use of digitalisation, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to curb the increasingly complex evolution of crime.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the national security landscape now faces various new threats, including cybercrime, online fraud, AI manipulation, deepfake technology, as well as cross-border crime.
“As such, PDRM needs to move faster than the evolution of crime by leveraging digitalisation, data analytics and AI as catalysts for more efficient and effective service delivery.
“The smart policing being developed is not merely about the use of modern technology, but a culture of data-driven decision-making, digital service delivery and more responsive, accurate and integrity-based operational management,” he said.
He said this when delivering a speech officiating the 2026 PDRM Innovation Day celebration themed ‘Digitalisation Generating Smart Policing’ at the State Police Contingent Headquarters here.
According to Ayob Khan, innovation is the main driver of PDRM’s transformation towards becoming a modern, professional and resilient organisation.
“Every idea generated is translated into solutions that can enhance operational effectiveness, strengthen service delivery and add value to the organisation.
“I am proud of the innovation initiatives through research and development towards leveraging digital technology and AI-based applications, in line with the transformation direction of PDRM and the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN),” he said.
