‘No’ to Malaysia’s second casino, says PM Anwar

DOHA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister, has forcefully rejected the notion of a potential second casino in the nation.

The prime minister stated that Malaysia is now concentrating on the digital transformation, energy transition, and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors while speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum (QEF) 2024 here today.

The Finance Minister, Anwar, stated that these industries are suitable to propel future growth in addition to others.

Anwar declared that there is “no need for a second casino (licence) in the country” as a result of his administration.

“The answer is definitely no! Developing a second casino is not something Malaysia needs to do.

He stated as the moderator of this plenary session, “We are focusing on digital transformation, energy transition, and AI, and we believe these are (among the) industries that adequate to push the country forward.”

Anwar was questioned if Malaysia is thinking about giving the MADANI government permission to operate a second casino (licence). – Bernama
