8-Metre-Deep Sinkhole Appears, Gua Musang-Kota Bharu Road Closed

GUA MUSANG: The Gua Musang-Kota Bharu road was closed to all vehicles today following the formation of a sinkhole along the FT09 route.

The Public Works Department (JKR) said in a statement that the incident occurred at approximately 9.05am near KESEDAR Recreational Park, involving a sinkhole eight metres deep.

Following the incident, all motorists and road users have been advised to use an alternative route via Jalan Pulai to Bandar Baru Gua Musang.

Meanwhile, Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo advised road users to exercise caution and follow instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

Galas State Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim said immediate repair works were necessary as the road serves as a main route for residents, particularly those living in Taman KESEDAR Putra and Taman KESEDAR Jaya.

“The road is a main access route for residents travelling in and out of the area, especially when sending their children to school. There are also concerns that the sinkhole could spread to the adjacent road,” he said.
