KUALA LUMPUR: Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, 34, has officially married singer and actress Bella Astillah, 32, after the couple solemnised their marriage in a ceremony at Menara Merdeka Maybank here today.

The marriage ceremony took place at approximately 10.40am and was officiated by former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

Syed Saddiq successfully completed the marriage solemnisation with a single pronouncement, marking a new chapter in the couple’s relationship following their engagement on March 28.

During the ceremony, the groom presented Bella with a mas kahwin (obligatory marriage gift) of RM500.

The solemnisation ceremony, held on the 118th floor of the building, was attended by approximately 250 guests, including dignitaries, fellow celebrities and family members from both sides.

Syed Saddiq and Bella looked elegant in all-white wedding attire, complementing the ceremony’s white-themed concept with Arabic and Islamic elements.

The ceremony also featured an exchange of seven trays of wedding gifts from the groom’s family, while the bride’s family reciprocated with nine trays.

Among the gifts presented by Syed Saddiq were a sponsorship package for Bella to pursue a master’s degree and savings funds. The bride’s family reciprocated with gifts including a ring, books and gold.

The couple also received a surprise sponsorship for an Umrah pilgrimage.

Sharing his feelings, Syed Saddiq described his wedding day as the happiest moment of his life, although he admitted feeling nervous during the marriage solemnisation.

He said his experience facing challenging situations, including debate competitions and parliamentary debates, did little to ease his nerves when reciting the marriage vows.

“When Ustaz Dr Zulkifli declared the marriage valid, that was what mattered most. I felt an extraordinary sense of happiness beyond comparison.

“I was nervous too. I thought I would be confident because I have no problem debating and speaking in Parliament. But earlier, I was so nervous that my hands were trembling.

“Once the marriage was declared valid, everything was settled. Alhamdulillah, I am now the husband of my beloved Bella,” he said.

Syed Saddiq also expressed his appreciation to everyone who had continuously supported and prayed for their relationship, from their days as colleagues to becoming husband and wife.

“Thank you for always praying for us throughout our journey, which has had its ups and downs.

“Sometimes there were obstacles and challenges, but I believe that with your prayers, Alhamdulillah, Bella and I have finally been united, from work partners to life partners,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bella expressed gratitude that their wedding ceremony went smoothly and thanked everyone for their continued support and prayers.

“I feel truly honoured today and am grateful to Allah that everything went smoothly.

“Thank you to everyone who has always supported and prayed for Syed Saddiq and me until this moment. We truly appreciate it. Alhamdulillah,” she said.

Previously, Syed Saddiq and Bella announced that their wedding would take place on October 10, 2026, featuring a white-themed concept with Arabic and Islamic elements at their families’ request.

The couple have also planned several celebrations to mark their marriage, including a wedding reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here on October 18.

In addition, the couple, affectionately known as BASS by their fans, will hold a Kenduri Rakyat (community wedding celebration) in Muar, Johor, on October 25, followed by another celebration in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on October 31.
