Nearly 2,000 participants enliven the HAWANA 2026 Fun Walk.

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 JUN: The Fun Walk HAWANA 2026, held today in conjunction with this year’s National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) celebration, began the event with a warm-up session or aerobics activity at approximately 7.30 am.

The flag-off for the 2.6-kilometre walk at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, here, which was participated in by nearly 2,000 attendees, was officiated by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications, Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, at 7.45 am.

Also present were the Deputy Secretary-General (Strategic Communications and Creative Industries) of the Ministry of Communications, Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil, the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) who is also the Chairperson of the HAWANA 2026 Working Committee, Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, Bernama’s Editor-in-Chief who is also the Deputy Chairperson of the HAWANA 2026 Working Committee, Arul Rajoo Durar Raj and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief (News Services) who is also the HAWANA 2026 Project Director, Mohd Shukri Ishak, together with Bernama’s top management.

In addition to the walk, various side events were provided for the whole family, including traditional games such as batu seremban, congkak, kercang, and dam haji, as well as colouring contests and quizzes.

The programme, organised by Bernama, also offered 500 lucky draw prizes worth a total of up to RM50,000, including 10 grand prizes of electric motorcycles valued at RM3,000 each, as well as bicycles and electrical items.

The organisation of the HAWANA 2026 Fun Walk received support from 14 strategic partners from the corporate sector and institutions, including the University of Malaya Medical Centre, Basic Tees, BigBigPlace, Maxim E-Hailing, Cap Kunci, Milo, Extra Joss, Munchy’s Oat Krunch, the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), MOMAwater, Yakult, ZUS Coffee, Selangor Fruit Valley, and Sunshine Bakeries.

The programme is hoped to continue to serve as a platform to unite the media community and the public through activities that promote a healthy lifestyle and foster a spirit of togetherness, in line with the aspirations of the HAWANA 2026 celebration.

The climax of the HAWANA 2026 celebration will take place in Penang on 20 June and is scheduled to be officiated by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
