The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has put out a report on the discussions with the public about the draft code of conduct (best practices) for social media and instant messaging service providers.

MCMC said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec. 18) that the public consultation session, which ended on November 5, was meant to get feedback from service providers, industry players, and the people as a whole.

The public meeting was meant to get feedback on the draft Code of Conduct (Best Practices) so that it could be made better before it becomes the standard in the business on January 1, 2025.

“The Code of Conduct (Best Practices) aims to foster a safer online environment for all Malaysians, with a specific focus on the protection of children and vulnerable groups,” it said.

The MCMC is grateful for everyone’s input and hard work. Their suggestions helped make the Code of Conduct (Best Practices) clear, adaptable, and useful.

“This contribution is welcome and will help make the internet a safer place for everyone.”

“While the final version of the Code of Conduct (Best Practice) will be published in the near future, the public consultation report now available provides an overview of the feedback received,” MCMC said.
