MB: More Than 12,000 TAWAS Recipients Have Yet to Claim RM1,500 Benefit

SHAH ALAM: A total of 12,626 eligible members of the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (TAWAS) have yet to claim the RM1,500 benefit, said Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said that as of 20 July, only 8,642 members born in 2008 had completed their claims and received payments according to phases.

“From time to time, the government makes efforts to contact them. Among them is during the implementation of the Back To School programme together with participants of the Selangor Children’s Heritage Foundation (YAWAS) to enable the information of recipients who have yet to make their claims to be updated.

“The next step is to intensify announcements and cooperate with community leaders to trace those who have still not claimed this benefit.

“God willing, by the end of 2026, we will refine these efforts and trace them throughout the state with the cooperation of community leaders so that no recipient is left behind in claiming the benefit provided,” he said.

He said this when answering an oral question from the Sijangkang State Assemblyman (ADN), Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (DNS) session here today.

Amirudin said that applications to claim the TAWAS benefit can only be made when members reach the age of 18.

According to him, each member needs to complete the required documents for verification purposes before payment is made by the Selangor Children’s Heritage Foundation (YAWAS).

TAWAS is a state government initiative managed by YAWAS to provide financial benefits to children born in Selangor when they reach the age of 18.
