Malaysia’s Wide Agro Ventures and Japan’s Orec Forge Strategic Alliance to Establish High-Tech Agro Machinery Hub in Perak
Malaysia’s Wide Agro Ventures Sdn. Bhd. has entered into a strategic partnership with Japan-based Orec Co. Ltd. to develop a state-of-the-art agricultural machinery production and distribution hub in Seri Iskandar Industrial Park, Perak. The joint venture, with an initial investment of RM30 million, was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Expo’s Business Hall and witnessed by senior government officials from both countries. It was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Salbiah Mohamed, Perak State Executive Chairman for Women, Family, Social Welfare, and Entrepreneur Development, representing Perak’s Chief Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad. Other key figures included Dato’ Dr. Roslan bin Mahmood (Ministry of Rural and Regional Development), Mohamad Hashim Abdul Ghani (CEO of InvestPerak), and Gulam Muszairi Gulam Mustakim (MIDA Osaka Director).
Of the state’s economic importance, YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad noted, “Perak’s agricultural sector contributes 14.2% to the state’s GDP and is a crucial driver of food security and exports, particularly in palm oil, rubber, and paddy. The introduction of advanced machinery will transform the sector, boosting productivity and national efficiency.”
MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim emphasized the broader national benefits: “This partnership strengthens Malaysia’s agro-machinery manufacturing capabilities. The Seri Iskandar facility will serve as a catalyst for technological innovation, export competitiveness, and talent development—positioning Malaysia as a regional leader in high-value machinery production.”
Ahmad Fadzil Mustafa, CEO of Wide Agro Ventures, expressed optimism about the venture’s future impact. “This investment marks a major milestone in our mission to deliver sustainable and innovative agricultural solutions. Partnering with Orec enables us to bring Japanese engineering excellence to the region while strengthening Malaysia’s industrial foundation.”
Under the agreement, Orec will supply advanced agricultural technologies to Wide Agro Ventures, facilitating the local production and regional distribution of modern agro-machinery. The facility is expected to drive mechanization in Malaysia’s palm oil sector and beyond, aligning with the nation’s agenda for smart agriculture and industrial digitalization.
This partnership not only underscores Malaysia’s growing role in the global agricultural equipment industry but also reinforces bilateral ties between Malaysia and Japan in advancing sustainable, tech-driven development.
