Malaysia Will Not Progress If People Are Shackled By Politics Of Hatred – PM
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Malaysia will not become a great and developed nation if its people remain trapped in outdated thinking that sows hatred among one another.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the people, especially the youth, must reject the ideology of hatred or racist politics and rise united as catalysts for change to elevate the nation’s dignity.
“Malaysia cannot be elevated as a great and developed nation if we remain trapped in old, outdated thinking that sows hatred among one another.
“The youth must rise as a formidable team, bringing change, and elevating the dignity of all citizens of this country,” he said when speaking at the Grand Launch Ceremony of National Training Week (NTW) 2026 at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Permatang Pauh, here today.
Also present were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
Anwar said the MADANI Government adopts an approach of resolving issues facing every community group through dialogue and inclusive policies, rather than inciting people to be hostile towards each other.
He emphasised that Malaysia’s future depends on the determination of the younger generation to continuously enhance their knowledge, skills and discipline, as well as to cooperate in making the country more successful at the regional and global levels.
“Therefore, the youth must take advantage of the training and skills upgrading opportunities provided by the government to enhance their marketability and income, thereby ensuring the country continues to have a highly skilled workforce,” he said.
The Prime Minister said the government, through the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and the Human Resource Development Corporation Berhad (HRD Corp), continues to expand training opportunities, including reskilling and upskilling programmes to help the people secure better employment and income.
He also urged the youth to make full use of the NTW event by exploring the various training opportunities on offer and providing feedback to improve the national skills development programme.
Meanwhile, Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said Malaysia’s economic position remains strong despite facing global economic uncertainty, supported by the implementation of economic reforms and government measures that continue to protect the people from cost-of-living pressures.
He said among the achievements recorded by Malaysia include the ringgit’s value emerging as one of the best-performing currencies in Asia, the highest investment record in the country’s history, and encouraging economic growth.
