Malaysia Strengthens Cybercrime Response at CYDES 2025 Panel on Digital Fraud and Financial Crime

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Malaysia is reinforcing its stance against cybercrime through collaborative efforts showcased during Session 28 of the CYDES 2025 (Cyber Defence & Security Exhibition and Conference), held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The session, titled “Countering Digital Crime: Strengthening Malaysia’s Response to Cyber Fraud and Financial Crime,” brought together national and international cybersecurity leaders.

Moderated by Professor Dr. Raja Norsharina Raja Ariffin, Dean of the Faculty of Information Science and Technology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), the panel featured top-level representatives and experts in cyber policy, enforcement, and digital governance.

The session explored Malaysia’s ongoing initiatives in preventing cyber fraud and enhancing national cybersecurity resilience. Discussions covered emerging cyber threats targeting financial systems, the critical role of cross-border cooperation, and the need for innovation in cybersecurity technologies such as AI-powered fraud detection systems.

Panelists also highlighted the necessity of whole-of-nation strategies involving government agencies, private sector entities, and academia to combat the increasing sophistication of cybercriminals.

This session formed part of the Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy 2025 and reaffirmed the country’s dedication to strengthening its digital defense framework in the face of rapidly evolving cyber threats.
