KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is all set to celebrate its 68th Independence Day on August 31, with the entire nation adorned in patriotic colors. From Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya, streets, government buildings, and iconic landmarks are decorated with the national flag, “Jalur Gemilang”, creating a festive atmosphere.

Full-dress rehearsals for the grand celebration are in full swing, as the country prepares to commemorate the historic day in 1957 when Malaysia gained independence from British colonial rule.

This year’s main celebration will be held at Dataran Putra, Putrajaya, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and will be attended by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Cabinet members, foreign dignitaries, and thousands of Malaysians.

The official theme for this year is “Malaysia Madani: Unity in Diversity”, symbolizing the nation’s multicultural harmony and unity. The highlight of the day will be the National Day Parade, featuring the armed forces, police, cultural performances, and creative floats showcasing Malaysia’s heritage.

Across the country, state-level events, cultural shows, and fireworks displays will add to the festive spirit, making this Merdeka celebration one of the most colorful and memorable in recent years.
