The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has taken back RM32 million worth of goods that are thought to belong to a highway concessionaire known as “Tan Sri.” The action is after an investigation into the theft of funds for building highways in the Klang Valley.
A source said that the MACC Investigation Division searched two of the person’s homes in the capital and took away various things, including handbags, jewelry, luxury cars, watches, and cash.

According to the source, MACC found 217 high-end watches from different brands that are worth about RM5 million, 27 handbags worth more than RM1 million, and jewelry worth RM4 million during the search.

“During the search, MACC also seized nine luxury vehicles, such as Bentleys, Mercedes-Benzes, and Range Rovers, worth almost RM7 million,” it wrote on Thursday (May 29).

The source also said that after the search, MACC found a storage unit with different kinds of expensive booze in another house that was thought to be linked to money laundering and was estimated to be worth about RM3 million.

“In the same operation, MACC also seized another luxury residential unit in the capital estimated to be worth around RM12 million,” he added.

The person also said that all the goods and assets were taken away so that the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 could be looked into further.
