KUALA LUMPUR: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has proposed that all ministries, departments, and government agencies play the national anthem, “Negaraku,” once a week to foster patriotism among civil servants.

According to the Wilayahku portal, he mentioned that this proposal is part of a series of patriotic programs and activities that could be implemented among public servants.

“The more frequent, the better. I request that the Ministry of National Unity further detail this proposal so that a circular on the Cultivation of Patriotism among public servants can be issued soon,” he said.

He made these comments while speaking at the Chief Secretary to the Government Leadership Aspiration Ceremony 2024.

Additionally, Shamsul proposed enhancing the appreciation of Malaysia MADANI through the Malaysia MADANI Training Module initiated by the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), the Public Service Department (JPA), and the National Academy of Malaysia (AKM).

He also highlighted the implementation of Program Latihan Khidmat Negara 3.0 by the Ministry of Defense and AKM.

According to Shamsul, he also hopes that all government departments ensure prudent expenditure of public funds.

“To achieve this, controlling resources through savings practices and preventing wastefulness is necessary.

“Therefore, a circular on this matter should be created, taking into account elements of monitoring and recognition for ministries that achieve significant savings.

“I request that the Ministry of Finance review this issue,” he said.
