PUTRAJAYA, Nov 9: Malaysia has introduced the Kasih Madani 2.0 initiative, a comprehensive family-strengthening package aimed at nurturing healthy relationships, reinforcing family values, and recognizing fathers as key figures in family development.

The program was launched by Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, with Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri officiating the event in Putrajaya on Sunday (Nov 9). Families from across the Klang Valley gathered to celebrate the launch, which also featured family activities, interactive booths, and a community fun run.

In her keynote address, Dr. Wan Azizah emphasized the importance of cultivating love, warmth, and communication within Malaysian households. She warned that families disconnected from one another risk losing their children to the distractions of the digital era.

“The family institution is an important foundation in developing the nation,” she said. “We must nurture families that uphold human values to shape ethical and responsible future generations.”

Highlighting the growing challenges faced by children today, Dr. Wan Azizah called on parents to remain actively involved in their children’s lives, monitoring their social interactions, school environments, and online activities.

“Children must feel safe and supported at home,” she added. “Simple gestures such as a hug or listening with empathy can make a world of difference.”

She shared that her own family makes it a point to gather weekly for quality time, a practice she believes helps maintain strong emotional connections.

Meanwhile, Minister Nancy Shukri unveiled the structure of Kasih Madani 2.0, which will be implemented under the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN). The program features two key modules: Modul Romantika Cinta and Modul Kebapaan, each targeting different aspects of family life.

“The Romantika Cinta module focuses on rekindling love between spouses through improved communication, mutual respect, and conflict resolution skills,” said Nancy.
“The Kebapaan module, on the other hand, highlights the role of fathers as leaders, protectors, and providers  promoting active involvement in both financial and emotional aspects of family life.”

Nancy stressed that the initiative does not aim to alter traditional family roles but to promote balance and shared responsibility between partners.

“We often see mothers handling household chores while fathers focus on earning income. Through this programme, we encourage families to work as a team  sharing duties and supporting one another,” she said.

Under Budget 2026, the ministry has been allocated RM4.1 billion to fund inclusive and high-impact family initiatives nationwide.

“Every ringgit must bring meaningful impact,” Nancy emphasised. “Strengthening family values is not just a government policy — it is the heartbeat of national wellbeing.”

The Kasih Madani 2.0 launch concluded on Sunday with community engagement sessions, symbolizing Malaysia’s continued commitment to fostering unity, compassion, and balance within every household.
