Israel Accused of Ceasefire Violations After Killing 97 Palestinians in Gaza

GAZA CITY: At least 97 Palestinians have been killed and 230 others injured since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, according to a statement issued Sunday by the Gaza Government Media Office, which accused Israel of repeated and deliberate breaches of the truce.

The statement reported that the Israeli army committed 80 documented violations of the ceasefire, including 21 incidents on Sunday alone, describing them as “a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law.”

“These violations included direct gunfire at civilians, shelling of residential areas, deliberate targeting, the creation of fire belts, and the arrest of civilians,” the government office said.

According to the statement, Israeli forces have deployed tanks, armored vehicles, remote-controlled cranes, warplanes, and quadcopter drones to carry out attacks in multiple parts of Gaza.

“All governorates of the Gaza Strip have witnessed these violations without exception,” it added. “This proves that the occupation has not adhered to the ceasefire and continues its policy of killing and terror against our people.”

The Gaza government held Israel fully responsible for the ceasefire breaches and urged the United Nations and other guarantor states to intervene immediately to stop the ongoing attacks.

The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on October 10, was brokered under a U.S.-backed plan proposed by President Donald Trump. The deal includes provisions for a gradual Israeli withdrawal, mutual prisoner exchanges, unhindered humanitarian aid access, and the disarmament of Hamas.

The truce ended a devastating two-year war that killed over 68,000 Palestinians, wounded nearly 170,000, and left much of Gaza’s infrastructure in ruins.

Despite the agreement, analysts warn that the continued violence raises doubts about Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire and threatens to unravel the fragile peace process before it can take hold.
