Tehran, September 3: The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) World Service has condemned Israel for the killing of Rasmi Jihad Salem, a cameraman and news coordination officer with its Arabic-language channel Al-Alam, during Israeli attacks on Gaza.
In a statement on Tuesday, IRIB confirmed that Salem was killed while returning from a reporting mission. The broadcaster hailed him as a “brave and committed journalist” who built his defense “with a camera” and became “a storyteller of truth.”
The statement said Salem’s killing once again exposed “the true face of a regime that silences truth-tellers with bullets and spares neither women nor children.” It added that the blood of Gaza’s fallen journalists “will never be in vain” and that their reporting “will endure in the conscience of humanity.”
According to the broadcaster, Salem’s death raises to 248 the number of journalists and media workers killed by Israeli forces since the regime launched its war on Gaza in October 2023.
IRIB accused Israel of deliberately targeting journalists in order to suppress coverage of atrocities in Gaza. However, it stressed that “the blood of journalists speaks louder than any media outlet,” vowing that their mission to reveal the truth will continue.
