SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has stressed that his decision to contest in the Linggi State Legislative Assembly is not an attempt to run away from Sikamat, but rather a desire to serve the residents of that area.

In a Facebook post, he informed that Sikamat was where his political journey as a people’s representative began.

“I am not running away from Sikamat. I have served four terms in Sikamat. From being an opposition assemblyman to becoming Menteri Besar, I remained in Sikamat.

“In 2008, Sikamat was the one that elected me, and my political career began there. The people of Sikamat know the hardships and struggles I went through,” he said in the Facebook post.

He recalled the early days of his political struggle when he operated from a small office above a shop and faced limited allocations as an opposition representative.

He said various efforts were made together with supporters and residents to raise funds and carry out welfare programmes to help the local community.

“An office above a shop, from a modest space, it is now in better condition. Back then, when opposition allocations were limited, we tried all sorts of ways to find money to provide assistance to the residents there.

“Those who went through the ups and downs with me know how we worked together to raise funds and organise programmes for the residents there,” he said.

He also described his relationship with the voters in Sikamat as being like a family.

He added that his own family has also grown comfortable with the community in that state constituency.

“Every time I return to hold programmes with the people of Sikamat, it feels like coming home to my own village. They are all my family. My family has also become comfortable with the residents of Sikamat.

“My wife and children are also familiar with the people of Sikamat. That is how it is between me and Sikamat,” he said.

The Interim Menteri Besar said he had advised his successor in the Sikamat state constituency, Nor Azman Mohamad, to take good care of the area as he had done.

Elaborating further on his decision to contest in Linggi, Aminuddin stressed that it was made of his own volition because he wanted to bring his experience and service to the residents of that area.

“I am going to Linggi of my own accord. I want to serve the residents of the Linggi state constituency. If Allah grants victory, I will work even harder for the people of Linggi,” he said.
