Helicopter crash: Husband has yet to see Dr Ainul’s remains

KOTA BHARU: The husband of the late Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, 33, who died in a helicopter crash near Long Lellang Airport in Ulu Baram, Marudi, Sarawak, has so far not been allowed to view his wife’s remains.

Muhammad Faiz Abdul Malik, 37, said he and his family, including his parents-in-law, are currently staying at Hotel Jinhold, Miri, while waiting to be called to the hospital.

He said that throughout the process, DNA samples from all five victims, including his wife, will be sent to a chemical laboratory in Kuching, Sarawak, for analysis.

“For now, my family and I have not been allowed to view the remains of the late Ainul Baraah at the hospital.

“We may be taken to the hospital this afternoon. The deceased’s personal belongings were handed over to the authorities yesterday for the identification process,” he said.

Muhammad Faiz said his wife’s remains are expected to be brought back to Kelantan for burial tomorrow.

He said the Ministry of Health and other agencies are working to speed up all processes so that the remains of all five victims can be buried as soon as possible.

Utusan Malaysia had earlier reported that a pilot and four passengers of an Air Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter were confirmed dead after the aircraft crashed at Long Lellang STOLport this afternoon.

Chairman of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee, Galong Luang, said all five individuals on board the helicopter were confirmed dead in the crash at about 3.40 pm.
