Gaza – 24 June 2025: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has strongly denounced the US- and Israel-backed aid distribution system operating in the Gaza Strip, calling it a “deliberate mechanism of starvation, humiliation, and genocide” that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians.
In a statement released Monday, Hamas said that over 454 Palestinians have been killed and 3,466 injured since the implementation of the new aid delivery system, which was established on May 26 under the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)—a model largely coordinated and supported by the United States and Israel.
“The so-called aid distribution sites are nothing but premeditated death traps,” the statement read. “This mechanism exposes the criminal nature of the Zionist-American alliance, using aid as a tool of warfare against the people of Gaza.”
Hamas accused the GHF system of being a political tool, not a humanitarian mechanism, stating it serves to enforce a policy of systematic starvation and forced displacement. The group claims the model is part of a broader plan to dismantle the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and erase the Palestinian cause altogether.
“These centers are not about humanitarian support — they’re about ethnic cleansing and preparing the ground for the mass evacuation of Gaza,” Hamas said, echoing sentiments shared by other Palestinian resistance groups in a recent joint statement.
The statement also blamed the international community for complicity through silence and inaction, urging the United Nations to immediately intervene and establish a neutral, UN-supervised aid delivery mechanism, replacing the GHF structure.
“The international community must break its silence and shoulder its legal and moral obligations,” the group stated. “A new, safe, and impartial aid system is urgently required, one that is independent of the occupation’s control.”
Hamas further demanded international accountability and legal action against Israeli leaders for what it calls ongoing war crimes and genocide in Gaza. The group called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire to end the humanitarian catastrophe affecting over two million Palestinians trapped in the besieged territory.
“We demand the prosecution of the Zionist occupation leaders and an end to the massacres being carried out with international cover,” the statement declared.
Since the escalation began on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 56,000, with over 128,000 injured, according to local health officials. The blockade on food, medical supplies, and essential aid continues to deepen the crisis, with international aid organizations warning of famine-level hunger, particularly among children.
The United Nations and several international aid agencies have refused to cooperate with the GHF system, citing violations of the core humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, and independence.
As violence and suffering mount, pressure is growing on world powers to either reform or replace the controversial GHF model and to restore UN-led humanitarian operations in Gaza without military or political interference.
